The Foreign Office has updated the travel advice for Britons who are or are planning to visit Cyprus.
The renewal concerns the possibility of demonstrations on the occasion of the flare-up of tension in the Middle East.
Specifically, on the page of the travel recommendation on safety in Cyprus it is stated:
“Protests may occur with little or no warning in cities.
Events in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories have led to heightened tensions in the region and protests are likely.
»Avoid any protests, political gatherings or marches and leave the area if one starts. Local transport routes may be disrupted.”
After the start of the new phase of the conflict in the Middle East, the British Foreign Office has strengthened the travel instructions for Israel, the Palestinian territories, but also Lebanon, recommending leaving the areas and avoiding travel.
In recent days there have also been updates to travel advisories for possible unexpected protests in other potentially affected countries such as Turkey and Morocco, with the advisory for Turkey citing the possibility of “violent” protests.
