Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations called on Tuesday for the immediate resignation of the Secretary-General. UN
The Secretary General of the UN ADono Guterres responded to Israeli claims that he justified the Hamas terror attack on Tuesday when he told the Security Council that the October 7 attack “it didn’t happen in a vacuum.”
Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan asked on Tuesday the immediate resignation of the General Secretary. UN
“I’m shocked aby the misinterpretations of some of my statements yesterday in the Security Council – as if I were justifying terrorist acts by Hamas. This is false. It was the opposite,” notes Guterres, in his statement.
“At the beginning of my intervention yesterday, I stated clearly:I unequivocally condemned the horrific and unprecedented acts of terrorism by Hamas in Israel on October 7. Nothing can justify the deliberate killing, wounding and abduction of civilians – or the firing of rockets at civilian targets”.
“Indeed, I spoke about the grievances of the Palestinian people, and in doing so, I also stated clearly: “But the grievances of the Palestinian people they cannot justify the horrific attacks by Hamas.”
“And then I continued my intervention stating all my positions on all aspects of the Middle East crisis.”
“I think it was necessary to set the record straight – especially out of respect for the victims and their families”Guterres concluded.
What Israel’s ambassador to the UN had said
“The Secretary General, who shows understanding for the campaign of mass killing of children, women and the elderly, he is not fit to lead the UN. I call on him to resign immediately. There is no excuse or meaning to speak to those who show compassion for the most terrible atrocities committed against the citizens of Israel and the Jewish people. There are simply no words” Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations explained in a post on X.
