According to Hamas, during the meeting, Haniya congratulated the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his statements about the organization. He also expressed his appreciation for Turkey’s efforts to help the Palestinian people.
Stressing that “the international community must assume its humanitarian responsibility against the war crimes committed by Israel and the heinous acts of revenge against the civilian population,” Haniya said what Israel is doing “is done to eliminate the effects of the military defeat suffered on October 7″.
The Hamas leader also emphasized “the determination of the Palestinian people and underlined the need to resist Israel’s policies of killing and displacement.”
For his part, Hakan Fidan stated that his country supports the Palestinian cause and that Israel’s attacks on Gaza are unacceptable. Noting that urgent aid should be provided to the Palestinians and that what is happening should be stopped as soon as possible, Fidan added that a political solution to the Palestinian problem should be discussed in order for the Palestinians to restore their rights again.
Finally, he warned of the dangers that could arise if the conflict escalated across the region.
