The UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Lynn Hastings, issued a statement saying that the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) continue to warn civilians in Gaza City that those who remain in their homes are at risk. However, Hastings points out that Gazans cannot evacuate the city because they either have nowhere to go or are unable to move.
just 62 trucks carrying humanitarian aid for the population of the Gaza Strip entered Rafah in the past four days, when before the Israeli military offensive the average was 500 trucks a day, according to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) of UN.
The last shipments of food, water and medical supplies that arrived from Egypt have already been distributed to hospitals and displaced persons in the Palestinian enclave, which is under siege by the Israeli armed forces.
“Fuel desperately needed to run generators continues to be banned by Israeli authorities,” the UN agency said. “As a result, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has exhausted its fuel reserves and has begun to significantly curtail its operations.”

“When humanitarian corridors are bombed, when civilians in the north as well as in the south are trapped in hostilities, when they do not have the essentials for their survival, when there are no assurances of their return, these people are left with nothing but unattainable options” , Hastings said. “No place is safe in Gaza,” he stressed.
He reminded that “the conduct of armed conflicts anywhere in the world is subject to international humanitarian law. This means that civilians must be protected and have the essentials for their survival wherever they are” and have a choice: to move or to stay.
“This also means that the hostages – all hostages – must be released immediately and unconditionally,” he stressed.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, about 1.4 million of the roughly 2 million Palestinians in Gaza are displaced, and 629,000 are housed in UNRWA shelters. The number of IDPs per shelter is almost three times higher than predicted.
