A Palestinian was killed by an Israeli settler in her area Nablusin the north West Bankannounced the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian Authority.

THE Bilal Abu Salah, 40, received “a bullet in the chest” while in the village of Sawiya, near Nablus. According to the village’s mayor, Mahmoud Hassan, Salah was killed while picking olives with other members of his family on his property, a short distance from the fence of the Jewish settlement of Reselim.

“They were attacked by four settlers and one of them, armed with an M16 rifle, opened fire on them without warning,” Hassan said.

However, the Yossi Dagan, the chairman of the regional council for the management of Jewish settlements in the occupied northern West Bank disputed this version. He claimed that it was the Palestinians who attacked a group of Israelis “with sticks and stones”, putting their lives at risk. A licensed soldier defended them with his military weapon and “saved the family,” he added.

The Israeli military said it was aware of a “violent confrontation between Palestinians and Israelis citizens” and that the police are investigating the case.

More than 100 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since Israel’s war with Hamas broke out in the Gaza Strip. The situation in the West Bank was already tense before the war, as Israeli forces carried out regular operations and attacks by Israeli settlers against the Palestinian population had increased.
