The chilling testimony of a driver of a coach that carried Lyon’s team to the Velodrome and also a friend of the team, describing the attack he received from Marseille fans
The unprecedented attack received by the Lyon team on the way to the “Velodrome” and the derby with rival Marseille, led – obviously – to the game being abandoned.
And how could it be otherwise, of course, when Olimpico’s coach, Fabio Grosso, was seriously injured and taken to hospital covered in blood?
It wasn’t just the coach with the team, however, that was attacked by home fans, after the coach carrying the Lyon fans was also “hit” near the stadium!
The unprecedented situations were described in a… slick way on the radio station “RMC Sport” by one of the drivers.
“I was very scared. All went well until the arrival near the stadium. The first buses were hit with stones and improvised rockets,” he said.
Even worse… the testimony of Farid, a Lyon fan who was in one of the buses that took people to the “Velodrome”…
“The windows of these buses were blown out. CRS told us to speed up. There were fans left and right. I felt insecure. They were there to fight. Despite the police protection, there are still five buses whose windows exploded,” he said characteristically!
