The United Kingdom is in the grip of yet another powerful storm lasting daysten days after the heavy rain and strong winds of Storm Babette, which mainly hit eastern Scotland with widespread flooding, damage and seven deaths.

Overnight parts of Northern Ireland’s cities have been turned into lakes by Storm Kieran, which is expected to bring up to a total of up to 100 millimeters in some areas.

The storm will then hit Scotland, northern England, Wales and southern England in sequence.

In southern England, 60mm of rain is expected in placeswhile even less intense rain could cause problems in other areas of northern England and Scotland that suffered the brunt of Storm Babette, with the waters still not fully receding.

In London, the Thames dam will be closed for the first time this year on Tuesday, as the heavy rain forecast will be accompanied by flooding, increasing the risk of flooding.

The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for heavy rain and wind which can reach 145 kilometers per hour. The warnings are in effect every day until Thursday.
