In Brittany’s Finistère department, where winds of up to 207 km/h were recorded in Pointe-du-Raz, two people were slightly injured and road traffic was closed until further notice, prefect Alain Espinas told RTL radio station.
“I repeat: stay at home,” emphasized Espinas.
Transport Minister Clement Bonn told Franceinfo radio that a truck driver died in the Ain department, northeast of Paris, when a tree fell on his truck.
“This shows that, even in regions that are not on red alert, there is a very high risk on the road,” Bohn said.
Energy Minister Agnes Panier-Rinasse wrote on social networking site X that 1.2 million households have been left without electricity due to the storm.
