“I couldn’t believe it,” said Gian Carlo Triaca, victim of the deer attack while on vacation in Greece.
A tourist’s attempt to photograph a deer didn’t go too well after the impressive animal lashed out at him with its antlers and broke his ribs, as captured in a video making the rounds on the internet.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Gian Carlo Triaca, 42, told Caters News Service of the attack, which occurred while he and his wife, Erica, 40, were on vacation in Greece.
The couple, originally from Cancun, Mexico, were reportedly enchanted by a park with wild animals, which they visited.
The stills show Triacca and Erika approaching peacocks, deer and other seemingly tame, adorable animals.
Things went wrong, however, when the tourist tried to take a picture of a deer.
Even in the best of moods, the deer did not see his move to be photographed.
“I was taking a picture of a small deer standing in front of me, when suddenly a large male deer attacked my back,” recalls Gian Carlo.
In the video, shot by Erika, a shirtless Triacca can be seen taking the brunt of the wild animal’s blow as his mobile phone is thrown out of his hands.
The animal nearly impaled him with its horns.
“I was in so much shock and pain after it happened,” recalled Triacca, who claimed he suffered broken ribs in the attack.
Despite being in a lot of pain for several days, he says he was lucky his injuries were “no worse”.
“I didn’t go to the hospital, I just recovered on my own with a lot of medicine and ice,” he said.
