Hamburg airport remains closed since last night, when a gunman crashed his car into a security gate.

He then fired two shots into the air, a police spokesman said.

No one appears to have been injured, but takeoffs and landings at the airport have been halted.

The airport has announced that it is closing indefinitely and has asked passengers not to come.

After shooting, the attacker threw Molotov cocktails, while he has his 4-year-old daughter with him in the car.

Hamburg police posted on X: “The car is still at Hamburg Airport. At this point we are assuming it is a custody dispute.”

“The team of negotiators and psychologists are at the scene. There is contact with the person in the vehicle.”

Emergency services and their vehicles have been deployed at Hamburg Airport.

Police said the attacker’s wife had previously contacted them about a possible child abduction, local media reported.

An airport spokesman said at least 27 flights had been affected.
