In particular, President Zelensky stated that “the United States” knows that I am not ready to talk to terrorists
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he is “not ready” for talks with Russia unless Moscow withdraws its troops from Ukraine.
“(The United States) knows I’m not ready to talk to the terrorists, because their word is worth nothing,” Zelensky told NBC.
The Ukrainian president was commenting on reports that US and European officials have discussed with his government negotiations to end the war with Russia. while it was preceded by a statement from a senior Ukrainian commander this week that the two armies are locked in a war of attrition and position.
“Currently, I have nothing to do with the Russians and they know my position,” he said, adding that they must leave our territory and only then can the world begin diplomacy.
The conflict is in a “difficult situation” but not at an impasse, as he stressed.
“On the front line, this is no secret, we have no anti-aircraft defense,” he recalled.
“That’s why Russia controls the sky. If they control all the sky, we can’t move quickly – until we have air defenses.”
The front line, more than 1,000 kilometers long, it has moved little in nearly a year despite Ukraine’s counteroffensive since June in an attempt to liberate occupied territory in the east and south of the country.
