On the night of April 11, 1912 – two nights before the fateful night of April 14 – the menu included delicacies such as oysters, lamb and duck
Items from the famous Titanic wreck are being auctioned by Henry Aldridge & Son Ltd on November 11.
The most important of these is a first class menu of the legendary ocean liner – and the only menu to survive.
It records the dishes enjoyed by wealthy first-class passengers just before they lost their lives in the icy waters of the North Atlantic Ocean, just four days after the ship’s maiden voyage from Southampton to New York began.
On the night of April 11th, 1912 – two nights before the fateful night of April 14th – the first class menu included delicacies such as salmon, oysters, lamb and duck.
This valuable piece of paper has obvious wreckage marks and is expected to sell for £50,000-70,000.
Among the items also to be auctioned is a plaid blanket from the first class deck, which is estimated to sell for £70,000 to £100,000.
Also up for auction is a Sinai Cantor second-place passenger pocket watch, which is estimated to fetch between £50,000 and £80,000.
