Turkey announced today that it has sent a ship loaded with field hospital equipment, ambulances and generators to Egypt to treat war victims from Gaza.
“A total of 51 containers with medical supplies, generators and 20 ambulances, with the necessary permits, were loaded onto a ship at Alsanjak port in Izmir and sent to Egypt,” Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said.
As part of the aid, fully equipped field hospitals were also sent, he added.
A video posted by Kotzas on social networking platform X shows ambulances, wheelchairs, boxes of medical supplies and containers being loaded onto the ship.
The ship is expected to arrive tomorrow, Saturday, at Egypt’s Al Aris port, Kotja said. Field hospitals and ambulances will be deployed in Gaza or at points near the Rafah border crossing with Egypt in coordination with Egyptian authorities.
Earlier today, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey has made preparations to receive wounded Palestinians and some chronically ill patients from Gaza into its hospitals.
Speaking to reporters after a visit to Uzbekistan, Erdogan also said Turkey would make efforts to increase pressure on Israel to ensure that Palestinians injured in hostilities between Israel and the Islamist Palestinian group Hamas, which runs Gaza, they can move abroad.
Last month Turkey sent cargo planes carrying generators, medical equipment and supplies to Gaza through the Rafah border crossing.
