To honor the UN staff killed in Gaza UN service workers around the world will observe a minute’s silence at 9.30am on Monday
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) announced today that more than 100 of its workers have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war.
“They disappeared. We confirm that more than 100 UNRWA colleagues have been killed within a month. Parents, teachers, nurses, doctors, support staff. UNRWA mourns, Palestinians mourn, Israelis mourn. To end this tragedy a humanitarian ceasefire is needed now,” wrote UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini in a post on the X platform.
On its website, UNRWA states that the exact number of its staff killed in the Gaza Strip since October 7 is 101.
The head of its humanitarian affairs department UN Martin Griffiths expressed his sadness at what he called the “deeply tragic news”. “These colleagues were symbols of hope and humanity,” he added.
