Ukrainian unmanned surface vessels (USVs) attacked two Russian amphibious ships in the Crimean peninsula, Kyiv’s military intelligence service said today.
The first information indicated that during last night’s attack, two small Russian landing craft were hit.
In a newer update this evening, it became known that the two landing craft were hit by USVs and sank.
One was an Akula class and the other a Serna class, according to Kiev.
“As a result of the attack, the two vessels ended up at the bottom. Akula immediately and Serna (followed) despite efforts” that were paid, states the relevant announcement.
The Russian landing craft were loaded with armored vehicles, according to Ukraine’s military intelligence service.
Reuters news agency emphasizes that it is unable to verify the report. There was no reaction from Russia, which in 2014 annexed the Crimean peninsula. In Sevastopol is the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
Ukrainian sources say that some Russian warships have withdrawn from Sevastopol due to the recent attacks.
