Smallpox is a global phenomenon…
During the coronavirus pandemic and the US lockdown, the US government had disbursed $4.3 trillion to mitigate the economic damage to affected businesses.
As it turns out, many of the entrepreneurs who got the auxiliary benefits, misused this money.
Specifically over 3,000 people are currently accused of fraud – according to the Associated Press, authorities estimate that approx 400 billion dollars, an amount corresponding to 10% of the 4.3 trillion dollars.
One of the “big fraudsters of the pandemic” is also businessman Patrick Parker Walsh from Florida, who is serving 5.5 years in prison for stealing nearly $8 million in federal COVID-19 relief funds.
Among other things, Walsh used his covid allowance to buy his own island – the Sweetheart Island – an earthly, unspoiled paradise off the coast of Yankeetown, Florida Bay.
The island Walsh bought is one of the most egregious examples of misuse of public money but his crime was not the only one.
According to the AP, among the hundreds of cases of fraud are government relief funds lavishly spent on homes, luxury watches and diamond jewelry, Lamborghinis and other expensive cars, nights at Las Vegas strip clubs and casinos and luxury vacations.
