Stoiximan Super League: Tests and “trials” for the… Europeans before the break

by

With four matchesof the teams that had midweek obligations in the European competitions (AEK, Panathinaikos, Olympiacos, PAOK), action continues today in the 11th matchday in the Stoiximan Super League.

PAOK-Panaitolikos

PAOK has 15 consecutive wins against Panaitolikos in both venues, in a streak that started after the home goalless draw between the two teams on November 22, 2015. In fact, Agrini’s team had managed to get two consecutive results in Thessaloniki, after just the previous match, on January 31, 2015, he won 2-1.

In this streak of 15 games that followed, Panaitolikos have failed to score in nine of the league matches. If both matches for the Greek Cup of the 2016-17 season are added, the games with consecutive victories of the Doubleheader become 17.

Panaitolikos has not managed to score in the last three independent home games with PAOK, while he has no goals in his last three visits to Thessaloniki. The last was scored by Gomes on August 25, 2019 and the 2-1 defeat of the Agrini team there.

PAOK has won with six different scores in its eleven victories, with 2-1 being the most frequent against Panaitolikos, since it has appeared four times. It follows 1-0 with three appearances. Their only draw is 0-0, while the victory of the Agrini team is 2-1.

AEK-Lamia

In their last six games against Lamia, AEK have won the same number of games without conceding a goal, with the streak starting after the two teams were drawn to a goalless draw on December 21, 2019 in Lamia.

AEK have not conceded a goal against Lamia in their last nine games, together with the one for the Greek Cup on September 25, 2019, there are nine wins without conceding a goal.

The Fthiotida team scored their last goal against Kitrinomavrou on April 14, 2019, at 2-2 (34′ Barales, 53′ Barales – 4′ Mandalos, 67′ Boyer).

AEK at home with Lamia has the absolute, with six wins in as many games and a goal ratio of 13-0. In the first three times that they welcomed the team of Fthiotida, they prevailed 2-0, while then there was 3-0, 1-0 and again 3-0 in their last match, which is also their last match.

None of their home games until last year saw a double scorer, but Van Wert managed to score two headed goals in the same game to become the first in a home game. In their match for the First Round in last year’s championship, Sergio Araujo also did it, who scored twice in AEK’s 3-0 victory in Lamia.

Asteras Tripolis – Olympiakos

Olympiacos completed twenty matches without a loss against Asteras independently, with ten of them being in matches played in Tripoli. In these games there are five wins for the Reds and five draws.

Asteras Tripoli has not managed to score a goal in the last six visits of Olympiakos to Arcadia, since their two draws were 0-0.

Iglesias is the last player of the Arkadia team to score against Olympiakos at home to Asteras Tripoli and that was on January 28, 2018, in a 1-1 draw between the two teams. The goal of the Reds came from Ansarifad.

Asteras Tripoli’s last win over Olympiacos was in 2013-14 and Carrasco and De Blasis scored, while Vergos found the net for Olympiacos.

In his maiden year in the First National League, in 2007-08, Asteras Tripoli managed to beat Olympiakos 1-0 (34′ Filomeno), a result that was a continuation of his first victory in the division which came against Panathinaikos with 1 -0 (51′ Martins). Then he managed to beat PAOK (2-0) and AEK (2-1) in Tripoli and thus made an ideal start against the top clubs in the division. His match with Aris that year ended in a goalless draw.

The biggest victory of Olympiakos in Arcadia took place in 2019-20 and was with a score of 5-0 with Masoura – El Arabi scoring two goals each and the other coming from Bruma.

Kifisia-Panathinaikos

Panathinaikos and Kifissia will face each other for the first time in their history, since they have not met in any competition until now.

Kifisia welcome the Greens after a draw with AEK at home, which has come to add to their unbeaten home run in any of their five games (1 win – 4 draws) in the two stadiums they have used, that of Lamia and Caesariana.

The last new team that Panathinaikos has faced is Volos, with whom they drew 0-0 in their first match in Magnesia on December 8, 2019. Immediately before Volos, they faced Lamia, with whom they drew 1- 1 in Fthiotida in their first game on 21 October 2017.

The last time Panathinaikos played at the stadium of Kaisariani was on October 31, 2007, when they faced Ethnikos Asteras for the round of 32 of the Greek Cup and won 3-1 in a single match. The goals were scored by Endoi (20′) and Vangelis Manzios (25′, 49′), while Beniscos (66′) scored for the hosts.

Panathinaikos was also the last team that Ethnikis Asteras faced at home for the A’ Ethniki/Super League at the stadium of Kaisariani on May 8, 2002, with the Greens winning 2-1 thanks to Sapani’s goals (17′), Vazeha (77′), while Lagos had scored for the hosts.
