The president of France Emmanuel Macron in an “open letter” of his to the French, which was published in the newspaper Le Parisien ahead of the march organized today in Paris against anti-Semitism, he criticizes “the intolerable resurgence of rampant anti-Semitism” in his country where, as he points out, more than 1,100 anti-Semitic actions have been recorded since October 7.

The French president in his letter speaks of “a France where our Jewish fellow citizens are afraid” and points out that “a France where French people are afraid because of their religion or their origin is not France”.

Emmanuel Macron also states that there will be no tolerance for intolerable anti-Semitism and that the only proper treatment of those who carry out the “abhorrent” anti-Semitic actions is to bring them to justice.

The French president also says that the fight against anti-Semitism “should never divide us or lead to a confrontation of some French against other French.”

Emmanuel Macron also underlines that the terrorist attack by Hamas provoked the armed response of Israel which “has the right to defend itself” and that “in this matter there is no yes but but”.

He also advocated a temporary humanitarian truce leading to a permanent ceasefire. He went on to point out that the aim of the terrorists is to cause divisions everywhere to ignite conflict and chaos. “We will not fall into this trap”, emphasizes President Macron, stressing that “a life is worth a life”, regardless of origin, beliefs or choices.
