Five American servicemen were killed in the crash of an American aircraft in the eastern Mediterranean during a training exercise, as announced by the European Command of the USA (EUCOM).
EUCOM did not specify the type of aircraft or where it was flying frombut the United States has deployed an aircraft carrier strike group to the region because of the Israel-Hamas war.
“During a routine aerial refueling mission as part of military training, a US military aircraft carrying five service members crashed into the Mediterranean Sea. All five service members on board the aircraft were killed.” EUCOM said in a statement about the accident that occurred on November 10.
Washington has rushed military support to Tel Aviv and bolstered its forces in the region — incl of the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford and other warships after the group of Hamas attacked on 7 October in Israel killing about 1,200 people.
