After a full 50 years, a murder case of a couple in Tennessee, USA, was solved. In fact, according to Law and Crime, the couple had been killed by their now 80-year-old son.

Michael Keith Fine, was arrested in Alabama last Tuesday morning and is expected to be extradited to Tennessee.

The man is facing charges of premeditated murderwhile the authorities are still looking for a person who may know several details about the case.

The Chronicles

The heinous crime was revealed on May 20, 1977 when Maryville police received a call from a telephone technician who had found a decomposing body inside a car parked outside a home.

The Fines were last seen alive two weeks earlier when they were out for dinner with friends.

When officers arrived at the home, they found the decomposed body of 54-year-old Helen Fine inside the family car. Her 67-year-old husband was later found dead inside the house. Both bodies bore multiple bullet wounds.

Despite the investigations by the authorities, the double murder remained unsolved for many yearshowever a relative of the family in 2021 wanted to reopen the case.

Through modern technology, investigators first linked Michael Fine to the gun used to kill his parents, which had been found in a landfill almost a year after the crime, but also with other findings collected by Semanisi in 1977.

“It’s something that often happens with cases that go unsolved for a long time: Such horrible acts are never forgotten, neither by family members nor by investigators who are working hard to bring those responsible to justice, Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp said.
