US and international forces stationed at northeastern Syria were attacked by drones and missiles at least four times in the last 24 hours, but no one was injured. There was only minor material damage, a US military official said.

US forces were attacked three times on Sunday afternoon, near the Al Omar oil field and the Al Shahadi base. Several drones were also launched against US forces at Rumalin Landing Zone this morning. One was shot down but another damaged four tents, the source told Reuters.

Earlier, US forces launched two airstrikes against facilities they say were used by groups working with Iran. This was their third strike in Syria in as many weeks.

Since early October, US and allied forces have come under at least 40 attacks in Iraq and Syria. In statements attributed to various organizations, it is stated that these attacks are retaliation for the support that the US offers to Israel, in the war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. To date, at least 56 US soldiers have been injured. All of them recovered and returned to their duties.

The US has blamed Iran-backed groups for the attacks, but Tehran rejects that claim, saying the groups are acting on their own.
