New emergency funding of 13.8 million euros to local authorities it was decided to deal with and restore damages from natural disasters.

In particular, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, in a framework of cooperation between the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Theodoros Livanios, the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Triandopoulos, in charge of Rehabilitation from Natural Disasters and State Aid, of of the Secretary General of Self-Government and Decentralization of the Ministry of the Interior, Michalis Stavrianoudakis, and of the Secretary General of Public Investments and NSRF of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, Dimitris Skalkos, and following relevant preparatory work by the Governmental Committee on State Aid and its competent Sub-Committee, it was published on Thursday, November 9, 2023, the modification of the invitation of the Ministry of the Interior, in priority axis 2.4 “Prevention and management of risks”, entitled “Natural disaster program for OTAs A’ and B’ degree”, which concerns additional emergency funding, amounting to 13.8 million euros (AD: ΣΟ0Π46MTL6-HE3).

In particular, the call was amended to include new emergency funding to municipalities, municipal water and sewerage companies (MWSCs) and Regions, in order for Local Government Organizations (LGAs) to deal with the effects of natural disasters, with an emphasis on the effects of severe weather “Daniel” and “Elias”. Cumulatively, therefore, to date, the emergency funding to local authorities, in order to deal with the effects of the summer fires, the bad weather “Daniel” and “Elias” and other natural disasters, amounts to 118.6 million euros.

“Financial support to OTAs for the restoration of damages from natural disasters continues through new relevant decisions, as the analysis and recording of damage to networks and infrastructures matures”, the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection underlines in a statement.
