The characterization of the Chinese president as a “dictator” by the US president was extremely wrong and constitutes irresponsible political manipulation, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced today Thursday.
“This kind of statement is extremely wrong and constitutes irresponsible political manipulation. China categorically opposes,” said ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning during a press briefing.
“There are always malicious people who are trying to create a rift in Sino-American relations and who will not succeed,” added the Chinese official, without elaborating.
“After today, would you still refer to Xi as a dictator?” asks a reporter.
