Vucic and Xi Jinping sign a Free Trade Agreement

Serbian President Aleksandar Vuτςiτς met in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with whom they discussed issues of economic-strategic cooperation between the two countries. Aleksandar Vuτςiτς pays a three-day visit to China on the occasion of the start of the Winter Olympics. At their meeting, the two presidents agreed to complete the process of signing a Free Trade Agreement between China and Serbia by the end of the year.

“The Free Trade Agreement with China is a matter of great importance to us because in addition to opening a large market for agricultural producers, we will also attract large foreign investments in other sectors,” Vucic said in an interview with the Serbian public. television (RTS). The Serbian president said that President Xi Jinping expressed China ‘s interest in contributing to Serbia’ s industrialization and economic development. He also stressed that issues of military-technological cooperation were discussed at the meeting, as well as the implementation of major infrastructure projects with the help of China.

According to Serbian media, Xi Jinping pointed out that Serbia and China are developing relations of strategic importance, with particular emphasis on infrastructure projects, energy and the common position of international organizations on issues of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Chinese president assured that the cooperation between the two countries in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic will continue and will develop with the joint production of vaccines as well as the implementation of programs to overcome the economic consequences of the crisis.
