The Washington Post had previously reported that after marathon negotiations in Qatar, a draft agreement was drawn up that provides for the release of at least 50 of the approximately 240 hostages held by Hamas in exchange for a “five-day ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip.
A White House spokesman said the US continues to work hard to reach an agreement between the two sides involved in the conflict.
At a press conference on Saturday night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denied “false reports” of an imminent deal to free some of the approximately 240 hostages held in the Gaza Strip, assuring his countrymen that they would be informed if such an agreement is reached.
