Died in Rome, aged sixty-one, the Greek-Italian actressAnna Kanakis. Born to a Greek father and an Italian mother, Kanakis began her career in 1977, when she was elected Miss Italy. Afterwards, she worked for several years as a model. Since the beginning of the 1980s as an actor, he has appeared in about thirty films and Italian TV series.

For a short period she was also involved in politics as cultural affairs manager of the centrist party UDR, which was founded by the Italian former president of the Republic Francesco Cosiga.

Anna Kanakis in recent years had devoted herself to writing books drawing inspiration from the lives of historical figures, as in the case of “Goebbels’s mistress”, the Czech actress Linda Baarova, which was released in 2011.

In 2004 she married Marco Merati Foscarini, a descendant of Marco Foscarini, one of the last Doges of Venice. She never forgot her Greek roots and often referred to our country with love. The funeral of the actress will be held in the Italian capital on Thursday.
