The son of Mohammed Raad, a prominent Hezbollah official elected to the Lebanese parliament, was killed in an Israeli bombardment in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, a source close to his family told AFP.

The son of Mr. Raad – the chairman of Hezbollah’s parliamentary group in the Lebanese parliament – was “killed, along with other members” of the Shiite movement in an Israeli strike on a house in the village of Beit Yahoun, said the source, who asked not to be named.

Hezbollah has so far not officially commented on the strike.

Lebanon’s official news agency reported last night that “an airstrike launched by the Israeli enemy (…) against a house in Beit Yahun killed four people” and wounded others, without naming the victims.

Since October 7, when Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Israel, which declared war on it, and has been pounding the Gaza Strip, which is ruled by the Palestinian Islamist movement, the border region between Lebanon and the Jewish state has become the scene of practically daily exchanges of fire. , mainly with Iran-backed Hezbollah, but also with members of Palestinian organizations present in Lebanese territory, raising fears that the war will spread.

On the Lebanese side of the border, more than a hundred people have been killed, according to an AFP count, mostly Hezbollah fighters but also at least 14 civilians, including three journalists.

On the Israeli side, the authorities are talking about nine deaths, six military and three civilians.
