Today’s hostage release is the beginning of a process” the US president said Joe Biden in his statements after the release of the first 24 hostages by Hamas

The US president argued that as of this morning as part of an agreement “which was achieved by extensive US diplomacy”fighting will cease for four days to allow the release of more than 50 hostages. “This is our goal”he argued.

As he pointed out, the hostages who were released today passed a “terrible” test and this is the “beginning of a long journey of healing.”

Today was a product “lots of hard work and weeks of personal commitment” he stressed, adding that he and his teams are working “all day long” to secure the release of the hostages since they were first captured.

At the same time, Joe Biden reported that he has spoken repeatedly with the Emir of Qatar, President Sisi of Egypt and Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu “to confirm commitments”.

“We expect more hostages to be released tomorrow. And more the next day, and more the day after that. In the coming days, we expect dozens of hostages to be returned to their families.” he emphasized saying that “won’t stop” until all the remaining hostages in Gaza come home.

According to the US president, the ceasefire is one “critical” opportunity to deliver food, medicine, water and fuel to civilians in Gaza.

“We don’t waste a minute”he said, adding that he has focused on speeding up the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza in coordination with the UN and the Red Cross.

More than 200 trucks carrying food, medicine, fuel and cooking gas arrived today at the Egyptian crossing point in Gaza, he pointed out.

Looking ahead, Biden urges to terminate “this cycle of violence” declaring his determination to pursue a two-state solution “where Israelis and Palestinians can one day live side by side… with equal freedom and dignity.”

“In the coming days, I will stay in touch with leaders across the Middle East as we all work together to build a better future for the region. A future where this kind of violence is unthinkable. A future where all children… Jews, Muslims, Christians, Israelis, Palestinian Arabs, will grow up knowing only peace” concluded.
