As the Italian Deputy Minister of Health Andrea Costa confirmed today, from February 11 the use of a protective mask in the open spaces of most regions will cease to be mandatory.
“This is a message of hope, addressed to all Italians,” Costa added. This decision is expected to apply, initially, in the white zones (ie the regions with the least cases) but the responsible deputy minister stressed that “he does not see big differences with the yellow and orange zones, because the vaccination campaign is going very well”.
The decision is part of a gradual easing of protection measures announced last week by Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi.
In the last twenty-four hours, in Italy the number of coronavirus cases is 41,247, with 326 deaths. In the total of the diagnostic tests that were performed (393,663) a positive result of 10.4%, a percentage which confirms the downward trend of the last days.
Finally, there are 1,423 patients with covid 19 in the intensive care units of the country (8 less than yesterday) and 18,675 patients in the hospital wards, ie 177 more than in the previous twenty-four hours.
