A severe snowstorm hits Munich resulting in the cancellation of all airport flights.

As it conveys the Associated Press hundreds of flights to and from Munich airport were canceled leaving thousands of passengers stranded at the terminals.

The airport was literally buried in snow and will not be operational until Sunday morning.

At the same time, severe bad weather is also affecting Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.

Airports in the region, including the Swiss financial capital of Zurich, also announced delays and cancellations due to weather conditions.

At the same time, trains to and from Munich Central Station were also halted, as announced by Germany’s national railway, advising passengers to delay or change their route.

The dpa news agency reported that some passengers in Munich and the nearby city of Ulm spent Friday night on trains because of the stoppage.

In Munich, no buses or trams were operating as of Saturday afternoon, the local transit authority said. Some metro and regional train lines were also affected by the weather.
