When the two leaders move to enter Downing Street only to find the door closed and no one to open it
Its prime minister had a particularly awkward moment Britain’s Rishi Sunak and outgoing Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte who met on Thursday night at No10 Downing Street to discuss a range of issues including illegal immigration.
In the video circulating online, the Dutch prime minister approached his British counterpart, who was standing outside the front door of Downing Street. The couple shake hands and pose for the standard photos. They then make a move to enter the building but find that the front door is closed. Then they start looking for ways to alert the staff to open the door.
According to the Daily Mail, Downing Street’s front door can only be opened from the inside and has no lock from the outside, for security reasons. Therefore, security personnel are stationed behind the front door 24 hours a day to ensure that no unauthorized persons can enter.”
Finally, someone opens it for them and the two leaders finally get inside.
