A 20-year-old man lost his leg when a shark attacked him off the coast of Queensland, Australia.

Matteo Mariotti, who studies marine biology, he managed to be saved thanks to his friend Tommaso Agosti who pulled him ashore and tried to calm him down.

A few seconds after the attack, the 20-year-old took a video and published it on social media as he thought he was living his last moments.

In the video, Mariotti is seen desperately calling for help as the sea turns red from the shark bite.

However, despite the amputation of his leg below the knee, which the doctors proceeded with, he is in good condition, as can be seen in his post on Instagram, in which he thanked relatives, friends and followers for their support.

“I took this video after the last bite. I wanted to say goodbye. I didn’t think I would live after being attacked by this monster. I lost a lot of blood and I don’t know what they’re going to do with the leg, but it doesn’t matter now. You are my heroes, you gave me strength to go forward with your messages and phone calls. My only dream is to see you again. Sorry for not replying to everyone but I’m very tired and my head hurts” wrote the 20-year-old while adding about his friend who saved him: “I owe you my life.”
