Ukraine has received another Patriot system, its second in a row, from Germany to bolster its air defenses as Russian forces step up their missile and drone attacks against Kiev and other Ukrainian cities.
Missiles for the Patriot systems were also delivered, according to the German government’s updated list of weapons systems it has supplied to Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022.
The Ukrainian armed forces also received nine Bandvagn tracked vehicles, 7,390 155 mm artillery shells, three remotely operated mine clearance vehicles and eight tankers.
Germany has significantly strengthened Ukraine’s air defenses, as the US-made Patriot, German-made IRIS-T and self-propelled Gepard have proven highly effective.
Kiev is also pressing Berlin for Taurus cruise missiles, which could hit Russian positions far behind the front lines.
