Peru’s President Pedro Castillo on Tuesday named his fourth government in six months, led by lawyer Anival Torres, to replace the former prime minister, who has been accused of domestic violence. three days.

But lawmaker Hector Waller Pinto, who succeeded her, was immediately met with a storm of criticism over media revelations that his late wife and daughter had reported domestic violence in 2016. Pedro Castillo, a former teacher who grew up in a poor village in the Andes province, was elected with the small Marxist-Leninist party Free Peru, but has already made a right turn during his presidency.
