Sweden’s NATO membership, the issue of the US sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey and cooperation in the defense industry were among the topics discussed
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had a telephone conversation with his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken.
During the phone call, which was held at the request of the US, according to Turkish diplomatic sources, bilateral relations between the United States and Turkey, as well as regional and global issues, were discussed.
As it became known, Sweden’s accession to NATO, the issue of the US sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey and cooperation in the field of defense industry were among the topics discussed during the communication.
The developments surrounding the war in Gaza were also discussed. The Turkish Foreign Ministry said Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan drew attention to the worsening situation in Gaza and the West Bank and called on the US to use its influence on Israel to stop the attacks.
The Turkish Foreign Minister also stressed the need for Israel to come to the negotiating table in order to start a political process aimed at achieving a ceasefire and realizing a just and lasting peace based on a two-state solution.
