Official visit to Hungary carried out by the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoganwho left Istanbul at noon.

At the sixth meeting of the Turkey-Hungary High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, which will be held in Budapest under the chairmanship of Erdogan and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, it is expected to review Turkey-Hungary relations at the level of strategic partnership in all its dimensions and to discuss the steps that can be taken to further deepen the cooperation between the two countries.

Cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector will be on the table, as Turkey is an intermediate country for the transport of Russian natural gas to Hungary.

The Erdogan and Orban are expected to sign 16 agreements.

Turkey’s goal is increasing the volume of bilateral trade to 6 billion dollars from the 3.3 billion it is today.

Also during Erdoğan’s stay in Budapest, the opening ceremony of the Turkey-Hungary cultural year is scheduled to take place, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
