The UN Security Council, unable to reach a compromise on a decision aimed at speeding up humanitarian aid to Gaza, has once again postponed a vote on a text calling for a “suspension” of hostilities in the Palestinian territory.

Less than two weeks after the US veto, the vote, postponed several times since Monday, is scheduled for Wednesday, several diplomatic sources told AFP, as negotiations continue to enable the Council to speak with one voice.

The latest text on the table and obtained by AFP was drawn up by the United Arab Emirates and calls for “an urgent suspension of hostilities to allow safe and unhindered access for humanitarian aid, as well as urgent measures towards a permanent cessation of hostilities”. .
