The 41-year-old man, who allegedly murdered 27-year-old Vanessa Balan yesterday, Tuesday, was found in the wider area of Treviso and is in temporary custody. This is Boujar Fadai, originally from Kosovo. Yesterday he drove his car almost to the Italian-Slovenian border, but then returned home.

As the Italian newspaper La Repubblica writes, the woman had met the alleged perpetrator at the supermarket where she worked as a cashier. For a few months, she had an extramarital affair with him, but when she decided to end it, Fandai did not accept the decision and started stalking her.

The unfortunate woman spoke to her partner, with whom she had a child which is four years old while she was three months pregnant in the meantime. They went to the police together and filed a complaint. After a raid carried out by the police at his house, with the confiscation of three mobile phones, the perpetrator seemed to have calmed down. For this reason, the 27-year-old did not ask for any restrictive measures to be taken, for him to be officially prohibited from approaching her place of residence.

But yesterday out of the blue, he appeared outside her door, smashed it with a hammer and fatally stabbed Vanessa with at least seven stab wounds to the chest and abdomen. “Don’t ever think you can do it to me,” he had threatened in a post on the internet shortly before the young woman’s murder.

On November 11, always in the Veneto region, 22-year-old student Julia Cheketin was murdered by her ex-fiancé. Her peer and perpetrator Filippo Tourreta did not accept that they were divorced and repeated, in a delusional way, that “Julia should be his alone”.
