In the Ver.di trade union called a warning strike the sellers in large chain stores of Berlin and Brandenburg from today until Saturday, ahead of the next round of negotiations with employers.

According to an announcement by Ver.di, workers in selected branches of the companies Ikea, Penny, H&M, Edeka, Thalia, Rewe and Netto are called to strike, which is expected to make it difficult to serve customers for Christmas shopping. The union is demanding an increase of at least 2.50 euros/hour, while the requests differ according to the special conditions that prevail in each state. The previous round of negotiations ended in November without success.

However, it is estimated that the mobilizations of these days will not lead in mandatory store closures, however, product supply delays are expected.

After the holidays, however, an intensification of strike actions is expected in many sectors. The railway workers have already announced further strikes after January 7, as in an internal vote held among their union members, 97% were even in favor of an indefinite strike.
