The Serbian opposition is no longer satisfied with the repeat of the elections in the municipality of Belgrade, but calls for the repeat of the parliamentary as well as the regional elections in Vojvodina.

This was announced by Miroslav Aleksic, one of the leaders of the “Serbia Against Violence” coalition, adding that it is time for the international community to react.

Miroslav Aleksic and Marinika Tepic who lead the official opposition coalition have been on hunger strike since the day before yesterday inside the building where the Central Electoral Committee is housed.

In front of the building, for the third night in a row, a new gathering of opposition supporters took place this evening.

The Central Electoral Commission announced that the electoral process will be repeated in 28 electoral divisions – out of 8270 in total – where irregularities were found and states that it is incompetent to consider the opposition’s request for a repeat of the elections.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic says in a video posted online that the elections were democratic and sees a “foreign finger” behind the opposition protests. “Many foreigners who would like to impose their own solutions in order to make Serbia “banana”, will not succeed in their intentions. […] We will defend the electoral will of the people, and there should be no doubt about that,” explains Aleksandar Vucic.
