Lots of legally declared guns had the alleged perpetrator of the massacre in the “heart” of Prague David Kozak, as announced by the Czech authorities.

Thousands of citizens and tourists lived a nightmare in the center of the “fairytale city” when Kozak, started shooting with a long-barreled diopter gun at Charles University, next to Jan Palach Square.

At least 15 people died, while 24 were injured, some of them are hospitalized in serious condition. The police chief said there are no indications that the deadly attack is not linked to international terrorism according to the data so far, but investigations are continuing.

The incident happened at the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University in the center of Prague. The building in Jan Palach Square was evacuated.

Speaking to the Interior Minister on Thursday afternoon, Police Chief Martin Vodracek confirmed the death toll, adding that among the injured there are also people in critical condition, so the number of victims may increase.

Police were searching for other trapped students as of late afternoon. As Vodracek explained, identifying the victims won’t even begin until the entire area is checked. “We want to express our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and we want to ask for their patience,” he added.

Vodracek would not confirm whether the shooter was shot by police or shot himself.

This is an unprecedented schizophrenic act, which the Czech Republic has never seen before in its history. It’s something we’ve all been afraid of, something that’s hard to prevent. he is a person who has his own problems and then he will commit the fact that, in addition to taking this life for himself, he will also take it from others,” said Interior Minister Vit Rakusan.

Videos and images released online and in local media showed dozens of young people running away from the university. Students, scared, they tried to save themselves, “hanging” on the windowsills and the rooftops of the university, however a 24-year-old girl lost her balance and was killed.

It is noted that at noon the 24-year-old’s father was found dead, with everything indicating that he was Kozak’s first victim.

Kozak had posted hateful messages on his Telegram channel, where he expressed his intention to commit suicide in Russian. “I want to die… I hear voices… I intend to kill other people too” he said among other things.
