John Snyder, the ’80s TV star, the blond Dukes actor, recently came into the limelight for his X post calling for Biden and his son to be hanged.

“Mr. President, I believe you are guilty of treason and should be publicly hanged. Your son too. Is your answer…?’ the 63-year-old actor wrote in his post.

Snyder starred in the hit 1980s TV series The Dukes of Hazzard about two brothers living in a fictional county in Georgia. He played Beauregard “Bo” Duke, who shared the same name as American Civil War general P.J. T. Beauregard.

On the same day he made the post, Snyder was named runner-up in the finals of Fox’s televised singing competition ‘The Masked Singer’ (The Masked Singer). He appeared there as a… singing donut.

Snyder’s post was in reference to a message from Biden earlier in the day in which the president railed against Republican and former President Donald Trump, who is the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination in next year’s election.

Biden said that Trump “it creates many threats to our country… but the biggest one is the one it creates to our democracy. If we lose this, we lose everything.”

Hundreds of thousands of users viewed Snyder’s response before it was deleted.

Some online media reported that the Secret Service, which is responsible for the security of the president and his family, has begun an investigation into the matter.

Secret Service spokesman Steven Kopec said the agency “is aware of the comments made by Mr. Snyder,” but would not confirm or deny that an investigation is underway, “because that is the policy.”

“We can say, however, that the Secret Service investigates all threats related to those we protect,” Kopec added.

Snyder’s agent and the agency that represents him did not immediately respond to a phone call.

Speaking to Deadline, Snyder claimed his comments were misinterpreted.

“I certainly did not call for an act of violence or threaten a president of the United States, as many celebrities have done in the past,” he asserted. “I suggest you re-read my post.”

He said he was “entitled” to have his opinion, adding that “some of our nation’s leaders in Washington have lost their way.”

Snyder is not the first celebrity to face backlash for statements or actions against a sitting president. Actress Kathy Griffin was fired from CNN in 2017 for posting a photo of herself holding a fake and bloody Trump head.
