The Metropolitan Police of London announced that as part of its investigation into 12 complainants party in the middle of a lockdown in Downing Street and other government offices has identified 50 people from whom it will request deposits.
These are people who participated in the investigated rallies and according to a police source of the Times include the Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The examination procedure provides for the sending by email of a questionnaire in which the defendants will have to explain their presence at these gatherings.
As the Metropolitan Police stressed in a statement, this document has “legal status” and must be answered honestly.
The questionnaire will be sent within the week and should be answered within seven days.
It is noted that the examination of these individuals does not automatically imply that they will be fined.
With a separate announcement the Scotland Yard confirmed that it is reconsidering whether the online quiz of December 15, 2020, in which Boris Johnson from a Downing Street office participated, should be added to the 12 parties under investigation.
Police are reviewing the data after the Daily Mirror published a photo showing an open bottle of sparkling wine in the office where the British Prime Minister and two associates were sitting.
