The Turkish authorities announced today the arrest of 32 suspectsalleged members of the Islamic State suspected of planning attacks on synagogues, churches and the Iraqi embassy.
A security source told AFP that these 32 people were arrested in raids by security forces and the Turkish Intelligence Service (MIT) in nine different cities, including Istanbul and Ankara.
“Two of the suspects (…) had gone to synagogues and churches“, the source stressed, also referring to a third man who was planning an attack on the Iraqi embassy.
According to this source, the three suspects are considered important members of the jihadist organization.
Turkish police last week announced a major search in 32 cities across the country and the arrest of more than 300 people for alleged links to Islamic State.
