Addressing his military staff, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un stressed that he must be ready to use the most powerful means to crush the US and South Korea if they choose armed confrontation with his country, as reported by the North Korean news agency today. (KCNA).
Kim argued that the scenario of war on the Korean peninsula seems likely to become a reality soon due to hostile actions by the US and its allies. Therefore, he said North Korea must “sharpen the sword” to defend itself.
“If they choose military confrontation and ignite, we must use the most powerful means … to deliver a crushing blow and destroy them completely,” Kim Jong-un said, according to KCNA.
During the meeting with the heads of the armed forces, at the headquarters of the ruling party, the North Korean leader congratulated them on the achievements of the past year.
According to another report by the KCNA agency, Kim Jong Un hosted a reception for high-ranking officials of the ruling party and attended a New Year’s concert.
