During his term as President of the United States, companies controlled by Donald Trump received $7.8 million from foreign governments and leadersaccording to the report released today by House Oversight Committee Democrats.

Democrats warned that the total number is likely higher.

“Subjecting the personal financial interests and policy priorities of corrupt foreign powers to the American public interestformer President Trump violated both the clear mandates of the Constitution and the careful precedent set and followed by every previous Commander-in-Chief.”wrote Jamie Raskin , the top Democrat on the committee.

The lion’s share of foreign money — about $5.6 million — came from Chinawhich along with other countries primarily financed three properties: the Trump hotels in Washington, D.C. and Las Vegas, along with Trump Tower in New York.
