Thanks to the DiscoverEU initiative, funded by the Erasmus+ programme, 36,138 Europeans aged 18 and over will each receive a free travel pass to explore Europe’s diversity, get to know its cultural heritage and history and make new friends.

People who applied in October 2023 will be notified today that their applications have been accepted.

With the DiscoverEU pass, they will have the opportunity to travel mainly by train, from March 2024 to May 2025.

The Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mrs. Iliana Ivanova, said: “DiscoverEU is a unique opportunity for unforgettable journeys across Europe, where at every stop new human relationships are developed and the multifaceted beauty of Europe is highlighted. The latest DiscoverEU application round was aimed at young people from EU Member States and Erasmus+ associated countries born between 1 January 2005 and 31 December 2005. In total, 144,038 young people applied in this round. DiscoverEU also includes an educational dimension, organizing pre-departure information seminars or meetings across Europe. Young people participating in the program can join the official DiscoverEU Facebook group to connect with the DiscoverEU community.
