The Japanese government issued a warning restricting entry to dangerous areas around the volcano
A volcano erupted on the remote island of Swanosesima in southwestern Japan, the Japanese government announced early Sunday (local time).
No damage has been confirmed due to the explosion, state broadcaster NHK reported, citing a local police station in Kagoshima Prefecture.
The Japanese government has issued a warning raising the level of volcanic activity to 3 – with 5 being the highest – for Shuanoseshima, restricting entry to dangerous areas around the volcano.
