British Travel Guide for Ukraine: “Do not travel in the country, those who are there leave now”

The Foreign Office advises British nationals in Ukraine to leave the country “while commercial means are still available” and for the rest not to travel there.

According to the renewal of the travel recommendation, “since January 2022, the concentration of Russian forces on the border with Ukraine has increased the risk of military action.”

The recommendation was renewed when British Prime Minister Boris Johnson told other leaders at an online meeting on Friday night that he “feared for the security of Europe”.

The move by the British Foreign Office follows the corresponding announcement of the US State Department on Thursday.

The British Embassy in Kiev will remain open, but will not provide consular assistance in person.

Regarding the conference of the leaders of Britain, USA, Italy, Poland, Romania, France, Germany, the European Council, the European Commission and NATO, Downing Street said that Mr. Johnson stressed that it must be made absolutely clear by the allies that there will be a heavy package of financial sanctions ready to be implemented as soon as Russia invades Ukraine.

In the event of a de-escalation by President Putin, the leaders agreed that there would be another way forward and pledged to step up diplomatic efforts in the coming days.
