These are just talks for the sake of talks, the Kremlin spokesman said
The Kremlin said today that talks in Davos on Ukraine’s peace proposals will achieve nothing as Russia is not participating in them.
President Vladimir Putin sent thousands of troops to Ukraine in February 2022, sparking the biggest standoff between the West and Moscow since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, French President Emmanuel Macron and key Middle Eastern leaders are expected to attend this week’s World Economic Forum, putting talks to end the wars in Gaza and Ukraine at the top of the agenda for the global elite.
“These are just talks for the sake of talks,” the Kremlin spokesman said Dmitry Peskov asked about the Ukraine talks in Davos.
“This process cannot be aimed at achieving specific results for obvious reasons – we are not involved. Without our participation, any discussions lack any prospect of outcome.”
Russia, which controls just under a fifth of Ukrainian territory, has dismissed Zelensky’s peace plan, known as the ‘peace formula’, as absurd as it aims to achieve peace without Russia’s involvement.
